Modeling Tuberculosis Contact Tracing and the Role of Social Cluster
نویسندگان
چکیده
We propose a discrete model to investigate the role of contact tracing program reducing the newcases and prevalence of tuberculosis. We observe that the tuberculosis contact tracing program has no effect on the basic reproduction number R0 but the size of social cluster has. On the other hand a contact tracing program can speed up the process of TB elimination. We compute the partial rank correlation coefficient (PRCC), based on Latin hypercube sampling (LHS), to evaluate the effect of input parameters on the magnitude of the newcases and prevalence. The most influential parameters are identified and ranked. keywords: tuberculosis, discrete model, TB contact tracing, control strategy

Occupational risk of tuberculosis transmission in a low incidence area
BACKGROUND To investigate the occupational risk of tuberculosis (TB) infection in a low-incidence setting, data from a prospective study of patients with culture-confirmed TB conducted in Hamburg, Germany, from 1997 to 2002 were evaluated. METHODS M. tuberculosis isolates were genotyped by IS6110 RFLP analysis. Results of contact tracing and additional patient interviews were used for further...

متن کاملWho Do You Know? A Simulation Study of Infectious Disease Control Through Contact Tracing
Contact tracing (also known as partner notification) is a primary means of controlling infectious diseases such as tuberculosis (TB), human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). The effectiveness of contact tracing depends on a number of factors including the contact tracing policy used, the social mixing network, and characteristics of the disease (e.g., the t...
متن کاملRisk factors for recent transmission of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
In recent decades, the decline of tuberculosis has stopped in Western Europe, mainly due to increased immigration from high-prevalence countries. The objective of the current study was to identify risk factors for developing tuberculosis following recent infection, in order to better target interventions. Strains from 861 culture-positive cases, diagnosed in Norway in 1994-1999, were analysed b...
متن کاملA molecular epidemiological approach to studying the transmission of tuberculosis in Amsterdam.
We conducted a retrospective, population-based study with use of restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis to determine the incidence of and risk factors for clustering of Mycobacterium tuberculosis isolates, indicative of recently transmitted infection, among patients with culture-proven tuberculosis diagnosed between 1 July 1992 and 1 January 1995 in Amsterdam. We found that 21...
